Mif2Go under Win7

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if anyone is still looking at this forum, but here goes:

We have several Mif2Go users at our company, and everyone has been chugging along for years under Windows XP with no problems. However, one person on our team just upgraded to Win7 and suddenly Mif2Go can't even get started. All the dlls are in the right place, according to the user's manual. We have tried reinstalling Mif2Go and restarting the conversion project multiple times.

The log file shows almost no activity, for example:

Fri Apr 12 18:03:57 2013
I1: Starting log for m2rbook, b111e and f006a, project "models"
I1: Opened file C:\sntdoc_eikondoc\trunk\model\book\models.book
Fri Apr 12 18:04:12 2013
I1: Starting log for m2rbook, b111e and f006a, project "models"
I1: Opened file C:\sntdoc_eikondoc\trunk\model\book\models.book
Fri Apr 12 18:04:15 2013
I1: Resuming log for m2rbook

Has anyone else had this happen to them after a Win7 upgrade? We're still trying things on our end, but any insight or advice from the community would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Ben

Mif2Go runs fine on Win 7

I use Win 7 64-bit Ultimate myself. From the symptom, the Frame plugin can't find dcl.exe or the conversion DLLs, like drmif.dll, dwrtf.dll, and dwhtm.dll. If you are still using a Mif2Go version before 4.0, the current one (out for a year now), you probably installed them in \windows\system32, where they went in XP. However, Win 7 requires you to put them in \windows\SysWOW64 instead, or it can't find them.

In Mif2Go V.4, we moved them all to our own %omsyshome%\common\bin directory instead, and added that to the SYSTEM PATH. Bot for the earlier versions on Win 7, you must use SysWOW64.

Thanks very much for the

Thanks very much for the advice. We'll try it out!
