I recently received a fix for an issue in version 54, and while installing the fixed files I noticed that I still have what I assume are old copies of m2rbook.dll and m2gframe.dll in the FrameMaker9/fminit/Plugins directory (in fact, I have two of each -- one with the original name, and one with the original name plus .new...not sure where the .new versions came from, but it's quite possible it's something I did and no longer remember).
Anyway, since the current install instructions do not say to put a copy of those files in the fminit\Plugins directory, I renamed those files and restarted Frame. When I do that, however, I no longer have the Mif2Go options in my File menu. I got them back when I restored the old files to their original name.
Are these files still needed in the fminit\Plugins directory? Should I put a copy of the newest version of those files there?
FrameMaker plugin files
Yes, definitely put the new m2rbook and m2gframe DLLs we left in yiour Dropbox folder into your fminit\Plugins directory, replacing the previous ones. They should be ".dll", not ".new" (?). Restart Frame and you'll be set.
Actually, in the User's Guide, par. 1.3.3, "Install Mif2Go", does have that instruction in Step 4. Follow all the instructions in the next par. 1.3.4 too. ;-)
FrameMaker plugin files ... oops
Well, this is embarrassing -- I read that at least three times, and misread it every time -- I put those
files in the FrameMaker *plugins* directory. I take it they are not needed there?
plugins vs. fminit\Plugins
I think we have to take responsibility for that error; the User's Guide does say "FrameMaker plugins directory", which meant fminit\Plugins to the author. Frame does have a frame\plugins directory too, which it uses only for internal purposes. We'll be sure and fix that in the next User's Guide release. Sorry about that!
