37.7.1 DCL file structure
DCL can be read and written in either of two formats: ASCII or binary. When the Mif2Go DCL filter is converting your files, it writes and reads the binary form, which is designed for very rapid and efficient processing. If you want to work with the DCL file yourself, use the ASCII version, which can be edited in any plain-text editor. All Omni Systems DCL programs understand both forms of DCL; for example, drmif can write either format, and dwrtf can read either format.
