Mif2Go is a plugin for FrameMaker that provides for export of FrameMaker content to numerous output formats. These include HTML, XHTML, XML, DocBook, and DITA, plus Word RTF and several on-line Help formats. The Help formats are Microsoft HTML Help, Eclipse Help, Sun's JavaHelp, Oracle Help for Java, WinHelp 4, and Open Source cross-platform cross-browser OmniHelp, which is hosted on SourceForge.
Mif2Go works with Frame versions 6.0, 7.x, 8.x, 9.x, 10.x, and 11.x on Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, and 8. (For Frame 12 support download and install the beta m2rbook115.zip after completing the normal install.) It is fast; most projects take under a minute to convert, at a processing rate of over 10MB of FrameMaker MIF source text per minute.
Mif2Go's DITA output is used by numerous major enterprises, as well as by many consultants, to convert files from FrameMaker's native proprietary format to XML. Interest in this process has become so strong that we have created another product, DITA2Go, to support it. DITA2Go converts DITA content to the same output formats as Mif2Go. Since those migrating from FrameMaker to DITA usually want to use their DITA files as single source, rather than their FrameMaker files, we make that easy; DITA2Go is free. Note: Jeremy H. Griffith, the developer of Mif2Go, passed away in 2014. Mif2Go is still available for download, at no charge. As Jeremy wished, the source code has been made available to the community for further development (see github.com/omsys-dev/original-source). Complete Mif2Go documentation, produced from a FrameMaker book by Mif2Go itself, is publicly available at the Download link to the left.
Thank you for your interest in Mif2Go.
